About Kendri Sri Guru Singh Sabha

Kendri Sri Guru Singh Sabha Amritsar was registered in 1981 as a non political body to continue the work of the Singh Sabha (1873) which represented the whole panth & won freedom of the Gurdwaras in 1925 and also got the Anand Marriage act approved in 1908.

The efforts of the devoted office-bearers of the Amritsar Sabha got about 3 acre area, Plot no 1, Madya Marg, Sector 28 A, Chandigarh. The Genral Body of the Kendri Sabha Amritsar in their last meeting resolved to register the Sabha in Chandigarh as required under the rules. The Sabha accordingly was got registered in U.T.Chandigarh after a long correspondance. Under their new name the Kendri Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Chandigarh got the approval of the plans for the main building to be constructed within the limited time.

This building, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Bhawan, first of its kind,will be a mark of great honour for the Sikh Panth. The foundation of the Bhawan was laid by the Panj Pyaras on Feb 21, 2010, it has five storeys each 7,000 sqare feet covered area. It is planned to conduct the following functions for the pristine glory of the Panth.

Head office: It will be equipped with the modern facilities to plan and conduct the activities of the Sabha.It will have technical equipment to be connected with its centres (local Singh Sabhas) all over India.

Coaching Centre: A student’s coaching centre will be run to tutor school graduates to prepare them for professional courses including medical, non-medical, enginearing, computer technology, I.I.T, Central examination including N.D.A. etc. Also special training / education will be given to graduate students to appear in I.A.S, I.P.S, Indian Army Competitions etc.Special coaching in English language will be given for servies in foreign countris.

Employment Guidance Centre: Many prospective students do not get required information regarding various opportunities available to them to suit their specialization or different paths of college & higher education for them.Guidance and necessasry help will be also given for young enterpreneurs.The Sabha has volunteers, Technical Officers, for this purpose. Digital Library: Digital library facilities will be made available for the research workers, students & trainees.

Sikh Book Centre: At present there is no Sikh Book reference Centre from where books could also be given on loan.Non-Punjabi language books will be provided for those intending to learn about the Sikh faith, Facilities will be available to provide photocopy of the needed information from any reference book, Books will be scanned and made available to scholars.

Training of the Heritage Teachers: Training Centre will be run for providing Sikh history and Sikh faith teachers for the school students, particularly the Sikh institutions ,schools And colleges. International Gurmat Parcharaks: High class Gurbani scholars and Historians will be assigned for training youth as international Gurmat Parcharaks who can communicate in English.Groups of young Sikhs from Eastern countries and other states of India will be invited and given education regarding Sikh faith,singing Kirtan and reciting dhadi vars. They will use their own language for explaining Sikh heritage in their own countries / states.

Hostel Guru Asra: There are many students who come to the city for appearing in examinations or for similar purposes to the city.They will be provided boarding and lodging facilities.Seminar Hall: A Seminar hall will be constructed and provided with modern presentation-facilities and screening documentaries for the visiting classes, special lectures and other functions.
